Raccoons

Raccoons are not only a nuisance but can also be hazardous to your health and dangerous towards you and your family. They can easily contaminate homes and businesses. Their droppings can bring health issues ranging from sanitary issues to rabies. You may hear scratching noises in the walls or notice droppings. You have probably noticed your garbage pails knocked over and the garbage scattered all over your property. If so, these are all sure signs of a raccoon infestation. We will work with you to determine the best rodent control option for your home or business.

Although bears and weasels are closely related to raccoons, they are ultimately a unique animal, native only to North America. Raccoons can weigh upwards of thirty pounds and are easily recognized by their ringed tails and black eye mask. Raccoons only live for about five years in the wild, and each spring give birth to 3-6 young. Don’t let raccoons fool you. They are excellent climbers, are incredibly strong and intelligent as well. Raccoons are mostly nocturnal. Should you see a raccoon on your property during the day, especially if it is acting strange, growling or foaming at the mouth, please give us a call immediately as this animal may be infected with rabies.

Squirrels

If you are hearing scratching sounds, running or scampering in your attic then chances are you may have a squirrel infestation. Do not be fooled- Squirrel infestations are serious issues as they are part of the rodent family and their droppings can bring serious health problems towards you and your family. Not only that, but they have a tendency to gnaw on wood, creating potential damage to your house and home. As with raccoons, squirrels are susceptible to rabies and an infected squirrel could find its way into your home and threaten you or your family.

Although squirrels are programmed to nest in trees, they will take residence in a building if they can gain access to eaves and attic crawl spaces. Signaling their presence is the audible sound of gnawing or scratching a pattering feet in the early morning and daylight hours. Unlike raccoons, they are not nocturnal, and it is not uncommon to see them during the daylight hours. Damage to your electrical wiring and insulation also a sign of an infestation. You may also notice them digging in your lawn, eating your ornamental bulbs, and eating from your bird feeders.

Possums, Bats & Other Nuisance Animals

Possums, bats and other nuisance animals can absolutely wreak havoc on your outdoor living space. They may also make a home in your crawl space, or even in your attic. Bats are dangerous animals carrying disease and destruction and should be dealt with immediately. You may actually hear or see the bats entering and leaving your home at dawn or dusk hours, or you may notice their droppings, which are different from those of rodent dropping as they are full of undigested insect parts and are segmented. Bats can also carry disease and should be removed from the premises immediately if they are noticed. Possum are nuisance animals whose droppings are toxic and can be extremely hazardous to your health. Possum usually carry some of the same characteristics of raccoons in the way they knock over garbage pails and hide in your attic or crawl space. Possum are dangerous and have been known to scratch and bite if provoked. If you believe that there is a possum infestation on your property, call us immediately.

All nuisance animals carry their own problems, from minor health problems to rabies, there presence could cause problems that you never expected. If you are faced with a nuisance pest infestation, do not try to remove the animals on your own. A professional is needed.
